Test cricket set to return to Pakistan after more than a decade with Sri Lanka series
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed their two-matches Test tour to Pakistan in December this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday.

Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi will mark the return of Test cricket in Pakistan after 10 years as it will host the first PakvSL contest from 11-15 December. The second Test of the series will be played at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) from 19-23 December.

This Test series will be a part of International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Test championship.

Recently, PCB successfully hosted Sri Lanka for ODIs and T20Is in Karachi and Lahore respectively.

The chief executive of the SLC, Ashley de Silva, confirmed their team’s tour to Pakistan for Test series. “We are pleased to confirm our return visit to Pakistan as based on our earlier visit, we are comfortable and convinced conditions are suitable and conducive for Test cricket,

“We also believe all cricket playing countries should host international cricket at home and in this relation, we are happy to play our part in the complete resumption of international cricket in Pakistan, which not only has a proud history but has been one of our biggest supporters in our early days as a cricket nation,” he said.

 On the other hand, PCB’s Director – International Cricket, Zakir Khan, thanked the SLC for showing trust in them and playing their role in the resumption of complete international cricket in Pakistan.

“This is fabulous news for Pakistan and its reputation of being as safe and secure as any other country in the world. We are thankful to Sri Lanka Cricket for agreeing to send their team for the longer version of the game, which will contribute significantly to the PCB’s efforts and drive for the regular resumption of international cricket, and help in its endeavors of attracting new audiences and the younger generation,” Khan maintained.
