‘Keep Islam in mind, not Islamabad’: Firdous targets at Fazl

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan on Wednesday took aim at Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for, what she claimed, exploiting innocent children to defend corrupt mafia.

In a tweet, she said the JUI-F chief, being a religious scholar, ought to foster peace and harmony in lieu of harboring malice against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Ms Awan said, “Making innocent children of the nation a political force to defend corrupt mafia is neither Islam nor democracy.”

مولانا فضل الرحمن صاحب سے گزارش ہے کہ اسلام کو نگاہ میں رکھیں اسلام آباد کو نہیں۔قوم کے معصوم بچوں کو کرپٹ مافیا کے دفاع کیلئے سیاسی قوت بنانا نہ اسلام ہے اور نہ ہی جمہوریت ۔آپ عمران خان کی عداوت میں مبتلا ہیں۔عالم دین ہونے کی حیثیت سے آپ امن و اخوت کو فروغ دیں عداوت کو نہیں۔

She said the JUI-F chief bears the prime minister malice and requested him to keep Islam in mind not Islamabad.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reportedly been playing a mediatory role between former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asfi Ali Zardari in an attempt to unite the opposition against the government.

Lately, he had met both the leaders and convened a multiparty conference of opposition parties.
