Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said that freedom of the press is an important pillar of the state.
Addressing a ceremony organised at Karachi Press Club (KPC) on occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Bilawal termed press freedom as an important pillar of the state.
He said that many journalists were killed and disappeared while performing their duties but culprits were not punished and they are still at large.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that vibrant and free media was necessary for a progressive democracy adding that his Party together with bona fide journalists and media persons would resist every kind of intimidation against the freedom of the press.
The PPP chairman said that KPC has always sheltered the democracy, adding that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will not do any type of comprise on Human Rights violations.
